Deperdussin type D
Two-seat monoplane, with
distinctive rounded upper fuselage. In some aircraft fuselage bracing wires were replaced by thin
plywood skin. For military use light 'belly' armoring was suggested, but not installed. For 1913-1914
this plane was a pretty good performer. On military airplane contest
(1913)
it won the third price, and was accepted by military department against domestic
S-11.
Sixty three were built at
Lebedev Factory.
Two were installed on floats in
1915.
Deperdussin 'type D' served in Russian Imperial Airforce until
1917.
