AI-26, G.A.Ivchenko

AI-26GR family were the first in the USSR specially designed to power helicopters (ones designed by I.P.Bratukhin 'OKB-3). The transversal Scheme used in this OKB required three directions of power distribution:

up, to the main rotor;
to the side, where synchronization shaft goes;
to the cooling fan;

Optimal operational altitude was 3000m.
