One of more than 20 series production modifications of the LaGG-3. M.I.Goudkov redesigned this controversial fighter to carry Sh-37 37mm cannon (20 rounds from anti-aircraft cannon) firing through the propeller shaft. During front line trials fighter-pilot Pereskokov was engaged by two Bf-110 - and brought them to the ground firing only 12 rounds.

This substantial increase of firepower did help to keep LaGG-3 as effective as possible until LaG-5 and later La-5 arrived.
