Single-seat biplane fighter, slightly bigger and much more powerful development of the S.VII. General layout was unchanged, some structural reinforcements were introduced. Second synchronized machinegun was installed.
Despite being a good gun platform, aircraft was not easy to fly. Engine failures was another weakness.
ABout 7300 built, handful of S.XIII found way to Russia.
