Vickers Fighter ('Scout' and 'Bullet' variants)
Biplane
fighter with relatively stubby fuselage. While
glazed upper wing section provided good sight upwards, low pilot seat resulted in poor
down-forward view and restricted aircraft efficiency as a fighter. Early versions ('Scout')
with 110hp 'Le Rhône' was 'next to mediocre', while
later 'Clerget'-powered 'Bullet' was only slightly trailing
behind Spad-VII, beating it only in speed.
About 30 were in Russia. Served through the Civil War and until
1924.
